Welcome
to Pear Tree Cottage Cumbria, a garden that is a member of the National Gardens Scheme.
The garden is set in the gentle countryside of South Cumbria and is surrounded by fields and woodland
In 2012 we are only open for private groups of 10 or more, but we hope to start again in 2013 as part of the Dalton Hamlet group that has proved so popular in the last couple of years.
In 2011 the Dalton Hamlet group raised over £2,000 for the NGS with a further £150 going to other charities from the sale of teas. A big thank you to all who supported us on our open days and the small army of local people and relatives who provided all the facilities. We could not do this without you. For a 'small' garden we are amazed by the amount of visitors and the feedback we received.
"The best private garden I have seen in 20 years of visiting NGS gardens"
"The amount of work that has been lovingly bestowed on your garden over the years makes it a work of art for the eyes and soul."
"The gravel garden is just amazing - the effect is so magical."
We are becoming better known nationally with articles appearing in Garden News and Amateur Gardening and several gardening tours have brought visiting groups from as far away as Norway and the United States of America.
