The National Gardens Scheme is a registered charity that raises money for selected beneficiaries by opening gardens of quality, character and interest to the public. Details of all the gardens open are available in the 'Yellow Book' - 'Gardens of England and Wales Open for Charity' available from all major bookshops or direct through the NGS website.

Welcome to Pear Tree Cottage Cumbria, a garden that is a member of the National Gardens Scheme.
The garden is set in the gentle countryside of South Cumbria and is surrounded by fields and woodland
Pear Tree Cottage will open in 2008 on:-
                       Wednesday 25th June 6.00pm - 9.00pm (wine)
                       Sunday 20th July 11.00am - 5.00pm
We are also taking bookings for private groups of 15+

Last year we raised almost £3,000 for the NGS with a further £300 going to Cancer Care from the sale of teas. A big thank you to all who supported us on our open days and the small army of local people and relatives who provided all the facilities. We could not do this without you. For a 'small' garden we are amazed by the amount of visitors and the feedback we received.

"
The best private garden I have seen in 20 years of visiting NGS gardens"

"The amount of work that has been lovingly bestowed on your garden over the years makes it a work of art for the eyes and soul."

"The gravel garden is just amazing - the effect is so magical."
