The pergola at the back of the house provides support for a number of climbing roses, including ‘Gloire de Dijon’ and the rambler 'Goldfinch', along with several clematis and a honeysuckle. The slightly tender, white flowered Solanum jasminoides ‘Album’ enjoys the shelter of the house wall. The pergola is also the main feeding station for the birds and is regularly visited by nuthatches and greater spotted woodpeckers, as well as a wide range of tits and finches.
